OIR Innovation Initiatives

The Office of Innovation and Research (OIR) stimulates, facilitates, and coordinates research, innovation, and continual improvement initiatives. To encourage and support these initiatives, OIR offers seed grants to faculty, students, and staff who wish to pursue activities involving innovative research, educational or institutional initiatives in further building Olin as an innovative community. Novel approaches with “reasonable risk” and promise of new capabilities are encouraged.

Types of activities eligible for grants:

• Self-development activities to expand faculty expertise
• Innovative research projects related to academic activities
• Implementations of ideas to improve institutional processes
• Seed money for innovative course development or initiatives
• Exploration of new ideas to solve an on-going problem
• Intellectual vitality activities expanding the overall knowledge base of Olin
• Projects fostering collaboration and promoting diversity of perspectives
